Pastor’s Letter, Announcements, and Order of Service - Sunday, April 16, 2023

CBC,

What a joyous weekend celebrating the Resurrection with you all this past weekend! And thank you to all of you who served, especially Pastor Joshua who preached twice, and Jonathan Hung, who along with the music ministry, led us in singing twice! Our hearts were full with what God has done for us in Christ!

And thank you to everyone who brought guests this past weekend! It was so exciting to see so many new faces. I’m always thankful when I see you reaching out to new guests. Even though we want to do our best as elders, and as a welcoming team, no newcomer really is home at CBC without you, the body, reaching out. Please keep welcoming them into your life groups, inviting them to join your transformation group, and having them over for a meal!

This Sunday at 9 a.m., we’re going to extend our Equipping Hour series on Overcoming Anger one more week. Will Lau will moderate a Q&A with Pastor Joshua and myself on any questions you have about anger. You can send those questions here. (If you want, we can keep your name anonymous.)

What questions remain after this series? Good anger? Angry kids? Is self-pity the same as self-anger? Anger at God? Anger that won’t go away? Is stubbing-your-toe anger still anger? Should we get angry about politics? I don’t know… I’m just making stuff up. So please send me your real questions so we can be of good to you, and you can be of good to one another! We’d love this to be as much a dialogue as possible. You have God’s Spirit and have learned about overcoming anger, too! We’d love to hear what God has done in your life.

God’s Word for us this Sunday is from Luke 9:23–27. Read the passage. And then pray for Pastor Joshua. And then pray for the church. We need to hear from God. And God speaks in His Word. There’s nothing more important than to be creatures ready to hear from their loving Creator.

God has done something sweet in bringing us all together. The elders love you all. Please let us know if there is any way we can pray for you.

Grace and peace,

Isaiah
