Pastor’s Letter, Announcements, and Order of Service - Sunday, April 23, 2023

CBC,

I wonder how many of you have ever had a conflict with someone else? Or maybe I should get a little more personal. I wonder how many of you are experiencing a conflict with someone else even now?

Conflict is common.

And conflict is confusing.

It’s also an opportunity.

While it’s true that the way we handle conflict can cause incredible amounts of damage, it also can bring great glory to God and advance the cause of Christ. If you are like me and need equipping on dealing with conflict, please come to Equipping hour this Sunday, where Pastor Isaiah will be beginning a new series on being a Peacemaker.

And then during our worship service we are going to be taking a short break from Luke 9 and looking at Psalm 49. There’s so much going on at Jesus’ Transfiguration. I need more time to be able to understand it and communicate it well. So we are going to look at a psalm. And, I am thankful God’s drawing our attention to this psalm this Sunday because it provides an answer to a very perplexing riddle.

In Luke, we’ve been talking about the salvation God is going to provide through Jesus. And that’s great. But so much of that salvation is still in the future and this world we are living in right now is very wicked. There are terrible people in positions of power doing all kinds of terrible things. So, what do we do while we are waiting for Jesus to come back and make everything right?

This Psalm is going to show us one thing we absolutely must not do and I am praying what he shows us will be just what you need to hear this week.

Joshua

Parents: For the younger children this Sunday, you can have them listen for the word: “Sheol”. To encourage them, Marda will have some treats afterward.
