Pastor's Letter, Announcements, and Worship Service Details - December 4, 2022

CBC,

There are some struggles we have as Christians that we are not that embarrassed to share with others. “Sometimes I am a little proud.” Or, “I spend too much time looking at my phone.” There are other problems we face, however, that we are more ashamed about.

Like, doubt.

Doubt is a secret struggle for many believers, which is sad, because the Bible has so much to say about it.

Given the importance of faith and certainty, it’s vital we think carefully and biblically about the problem of doubt. I hope you will be encouraged as we look at Luke 7:18-23 and think about the way Jesus responds to a believer and his doubts.

Two Special Announcements:

  1. We are working on putting together a membership directory. We would like this directory to include pictures of every member. For the next two Sundays, we are going to take pictures of members outside by the back entrance of the church. If you don’t get your picture taken, there won’t be a picture of you in the directory. Just a blank space. And we don’t want that. The long-term goal is to have a directory that will help us pray for one another and remember each other better.

  2. The Macks will be hosting their annual Christmas Cookie open house from 5 pm to 8pm on December 22nd. It involves a little bit of a happy, friendly family competition, so come and let them know who made the best cookie!

Parents

For the younger children this Sunday, you can have them listen for the word: “doubt.” To encourage them, Marda will have some treats afterward.

Truth To Think About

“Doubting does not prove that a man has no faith, but only that his faith is small. And even when our faith is small, the Lord is ready to help us.”

Church-Wide Prayer @ 9 AM

What a privilege to pray to our Father with our brother and sisters because of Jesus’ work on the cross! Prayer is God’s chosen means to accomplish His will…and we get to be part of that.
