Pastor's Letter, Announcements, and Worship Service Details - November 20, 2022

Brothers and Sisters,

If you have a few minutes before coming on Sunday, read through James Chapter 5. (Actually, if you have more than a few minutes read through the whole book!)

This Sunday I’ll be preaching on James 5:13-18. I’m guessing that if you’re like me you’ll have a few questions from this text. Please jot them down. And, if you’re like me, I’m pretty sure that when the sermon is done…you’ll still have a few questions! (I’m kind of hoping some of you are grabbing your Bibles right now in curiosity…)

I’m going to do my best to explain what God’s Word means. But let me spoil it a little for you. Some of what is clear in this passage is that God wants you to pray; that He wants you to pray for one another; and that He will accomplish His will in this world for His glory and your good through prayer. My prayer now is that after the sermon you will either pray more or be encouraged to keep praying because you believe that God hears and answers prayer.

God answers prayer. He answers the prayers of people like you and me. In this world. Right now. Today. Do you believe it?

We are in this world to glorify the Father by becoming like His Son. God will use our prayers and our church family’s prayers for one another to accomplish that plan. So let’s pray together that we’ll be people like Jesus, people who love spending time with the Father in prayer and who pray for one another!

Grace and peace,

Isaiah

Parents

For the younger children this Sunday, you can have them listen for the word, “pray.” To encourage them, Melissa will have candy after service.

Announcements:

Communion and Church Lunch. This Sunday we’ll remember Jesus’ death in our place by partaking of the Lord’s Supper. We will also enjoy church lunch together (tamales). While everyone is invited to stay for lunch, please do not partake of the Lord’s Supper if you are not a believer walking in obedience to Him.

Members Meeting. Sunday, November 20th, 1:00 p.m. Please plan on joining us after communion lunch (tamales) for a member’s meeting. As members of Cornerstone BIble Church, we strive to serve together, pray together, make disciples together, and pursue God’s glory together. The Member’s Meeting is where we emphasize the together of CBC so that our hearts beat as one…in love for one another and in passion for God’s glory! (There will be no Equipping Hour or Childern's Ministry on November 20th.)

Pre-service Prayer Meeting will not be meeting this Sunday. Join us on November 27th at 8:15am in the upper room.

Equipping Hour, Fall Series. Returns on November 27th at 9 a.m. When God saves someone through faith in Jesus Christ, he does a miracle in their lives. Paul's two-word summary of the change that follows is "in Christ" or "in Him." The more you grasp the extent of the miracle of being "in Christ", the more you will glorify Christ with your life. Previous recordings can be found here.

Men’s Ministry. December 3rd from 7:30-9:00 a.m. Gather with men. Eat Jim’s food. Listen to God’s Word.
