Pastor's Letter, Announcements, and Worship Service Details - September 25, 2022

CBC,

I wonder if you can remember the best sermon you ever heard?

Some sermons stick with you because they are so encouraging. There are other sermons that you remember not so much because they are encouraging, but because they are convicting. Maybe you can remember a sermon that you found especially challenging. Where, it was hard to be the same person afterwards.

This Sunday we are going to begin looking at a sermon Jesus preached in Luke 6 that everyone in the audience must have remembered. It’s important. It’s also shocking. And it is going to take us some work to really understand it.

Please be praying that God will open our eyes so that we might hear what Jesus is saying in this sermon and go away transformed.

Joshua

Parents,

For the younger children this Sunday, you can have them listen for the word, “sermon.” To encourage them, Marda will have some treats afterward.

Truth To Think About:

Over the next few letters I will include some helpful thoughts from church history about various important doctrines. You might take some time to think about them and what the implications of believing this are for your life and for our church.

The first comes from the New Hampshire Confession of Faith. They start with the Bible.

What do we believe about Scripture?

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter, that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.

Equipping Hour @ 9 AM

When God saves someone through faith in Jesus Christ, he does a miracle in their lives. Paul's two-word summary of the change that follows is "in Christ" or "in Him." The more you grasp the extent of the miracle of being "in Christ", the more you will glorify Christ with your life. Join us in Equipping Hour on a journey to unpack what it means to be "in Christ"!
